Last updated: April 13, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Dev Chat ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service. Dev Chat is an open-source, non-commercial project provided free of charge.
2. Description of Service
Dev Chat is a free, open-source platform that enables developers to connect through random video chats. The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without any guarantees of uptime, reliability, or fitness for any particular purpose.
3. No Warranty
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE. THE PROJECT MAINTAINERS EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. NO ADVICE OR INFORMATION, WHETHER ORAL OR WRITTEN, OBTAINED FROM THE SERVICE SHALL CREATE ANY WARRANTY NOT EXPRESSLY STATED HEREIN.
4. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE PROJECT MAINTAINERS, CONTRIBUTORS, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, GOODWILL, USE, DATA, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.
IN NO EVENT SHALL THE TOTAL LIABILITY OF THE PROJECT MAINTAINERS EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID TO USE THE SERVICE, WHICH IS ZERO ($0.00), AS THIS IS A FREE, OPEN-SOURCE PROJECT.
5. Assumption of Risk
You acknowledge and agree that your use of the Service is entirely at your own risk. You are solely responsible for any interactions with other users on the platform. The project maintainers are not responsible for the conduct of any user, whether online or offline. You agree to exercise caution and good judgment in all interactions.
6. User Conduct
By using the Service, you agree not to:
- Harass, abuse, threaten, or intimidate other users
- Share illegal, harmful, or offensive content
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' accounts
- Use the Service for any commercial or illegal purpose
- Transmit malware, viruses, or any other malicious code
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Collect or harvest personal information from other users without consent
7. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the project maintainers, contributors, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any third-party rights; or (d) any content you submit or transmit through the Service.
8. Open Source
Dev Chat is an open-source project. The source code is available under its respective license. These Terms of Service govern your use of the hosted Service, not the source code itself. The source code license is separate from these Terms.
9. Termination
The project maintainers reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, for any reason, without prior notice or liability. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.
10. Modifications
The project maintainers reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting. Your continued use of the Service after any modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
11. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through informal negotiation. If a resolution cannot be reached, disputes shall be subject to binding arbitration. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against the project maintainers.
12. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
13. Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and the project maintainers regarding the use of the Service, superseding any prior agreements. The failure to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
